Ruby’s Easter Diary: Friday, Saturday and Sunday

Hello again! Happy Easter!!!

Did you miss my diary entries? I’ve been in France with Miss Butcher and got back very early this morning!

We went on a huge ferry, slept overnight in a cabin and then spent yesterday travelling around. We went to a huge city called Caen, went looking for treasure (a special type of hide-and-seek called caching!) in a castle, ate breakfast in a cafe and wandered round the shops which I suppose could be a bit boring if you’re a rabbit and don’t like chocolate or clothes! However we also went to see the tomb of William the Conqueror and walked through the gardens outside the abbey.

The tulips were lovely, so I had a quick snack before we drove through Northern France to Cherbourg. We had lunch in Bayeux near the Bayeux Tapesty, and as there wasn’t time to see the tapestry (we’ll do that next time!) went on a little train around the town to save Miss Butcher walking too far. After that we drove along the D-Day beaches and I saw lots of old tanks, guns and even bits of a floating harbour. It was a bit sad though as we saw thousands of graves from the Second World War. I didn’t know much about it so Miss Butcher explained about how thousands of soldiers had to invade France and that we were driving along some of the roads they had been along. If you want to know more, like I did, maybe you could ask your mums and dads, or Miss Butcher when we get back to school.

After another stop at a supermarket-where Miss Butcher’s car suddenly got filled up with French cakes, cheese and wine-we drove up to Cherbourg and caught the fast-ferry back to Portsmouth.

On the way back I looked at the view for a bit and then I listened to Miss Butcher’s Ipod as she seemed to be a bit too tired….
